Queen Pineapple . Manchester City Art Gallery. Made in the 1990’s is was the second giant pot I ever made. A symbol of hospitality, prosperity and most importantly friendship this stands nearly 4 foot high and weighs 200 kilos plus. Originally it was made for the restaurant at the museum but has since been moved into the displays. Commissioned by The then curator Lesley Jackson for the Galleries I think the total budget was £5000 to include transport and installation. One of my favourite pieces I have ever made. Thanks Manchester for the confidence way back then. #manchestercityartgallery #pineapple #pottery #largepot #giantpot #ceramins #contemporaryceramics #symbolism
