Tonight I will be talking about 24 Savile Row in London which was designed by @eprarchitects and I created the facade working with @richmillerpots of @froyletiles 6.30-8pm Building Centre 26 Store Street London WC1E 7BT The building is clad 10,000 bespoke hand glazed ceramic tiles and positioned on a decorative sand-cast bronze plinth. A crystalline glaze – a challenging production method where textured crystals are encouraged to develop in the firing process – was chosen which means no two tiles are exactly the same. An extensive testing period in collaboration with @richmillerpots of @froyletiles was undertaken to ensure the glaze results formed in the potter’s studio could be replicated architecturally. Situated in the Mayfair Conservation Area, the building attained a BREEAM Excellent rating. Find out more about the tiles, design and production process tonight with myself, Stephen Pey of EPR and Rich Miller This talk is part of #HandHeldToSuperScale at @thebuildingcentre Sponsored by @bostonvalleyterracotta and supported by @arupgroup, @darwenterracotta, @nbk_terracotta and #Szerelmey. #ceramics #architecture #materials #tiles #builtenvironment #KateMalone #RichMiller #EPR
